I say the word "character" because these are definitly not your average Joe. My personal favorite is Alan Boston. Alan is a lovable curmudgeon that means well, but often shoots himself in the foot. I pleasantly laughed out loud at some of the remarks he made while watching games (primarily because I have made the same comments myself).

If I would change the book in any way, I would strike the section on legislation and legalization of sports wagering. Although it is relevant to the story, I felt like it dragged on at times, and took away from the excitement of the "action.

The writing is strong, and not without moments of "tongue-in-cheek" humor. Chad is an interesting guy himself, who I have corresponding with since reading the book. He is a very friendly person who cares deeply about his audience. Buy this book, and if you dont enjoy it, find a degenerate gambler to give it to.

He or she will be sure to find a special place in their heart for it. It takes the reader on the roller coaster ride of betting on college basketball in Las Vegas. Although there were far too many typographical and grammatical problems, the story is engaging. If you ever wondered how the sports books set the lines or what the lifestyle of the full-time "professional" sports bettor is, this book is illuminating. Interestingly, Millman predicts the imminent demise of the Vegas sports book 14 years ago, but today the business seems to be as strong as ever.

As a fan of Chad Millman's podcast, I enjoyed reading the book that had such a significant impact on his future. Also, this introduced me to some of his guests on the podcast and provided background information on them. It also provides some interesting tales of the transition of sports betting from its early days to the more corporate set up today and discusses the impact of the internet on sports betting.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to read a sequel that updated where some of the people are today and the changes in the more than a decade since the book was written. The services provided by Sjofn exceeded our expectations in all respects. The organization and travel materials provided were excellent and easy to follow.

We would not hesitate to recommend Nordic Visitor. We cannot wait to visit Iceland again. We thought that Larus did an excellent job in planning the tour and our hotel stops based on our interests, which were largely to take advantage of seeing the beautiful scenery and to hike.

We've travelled extensively in Europe, North America, South America, Australia and New Zealand. Our trip to Iceland was one of the best organized and most enjoyable. Nordic anticipated almost all of our questions with their extensive information package. And for those that they didn't anticipate, Larus answered them promptly. We so much enjoyed our trip to Iceland that we're looking forward to a return visit in a future summer and will definitely used Nordic Visitor again.

Everything about this tour was perfect. It would not be an overstatement to say it was one of the top travel experiences of my life. Arnar really thought through all of the details, and produced a tour that probably could never be topped. All of the hotels and other travel plans were first rate. I would love to do something like this again. We booked a last minute honeymoon trip with Nordic Visitor and found the service outstanding.

There was only two weeks from the date of booking to our arrival date. Even though she had very little time to coordinate the trip, Sjofn did a wonderful job planning the trip. She made excellent recommendations and went out of her way to make us feel very welcome and comfortable throughout the process. She helped us re-coordinate one of our activities when one of us was not feeling well and was very responsive whenever we had questions throughout the trip.

Furthermore, all the accommodations were lovely and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed all the recommended activities and the stress-free aspect of the self guided driving tour. We really had no idea what to expect with Iceland but were overwhelmed with the beauty of the country.

Whether we were doing an activity or just driving, there was so much beautiful scenery to take in. Overall, we are certainly impressed with the quality of service that we received throughout the process and are planning on making a return visit in the winter months. You provide a good service to people like us who come from so far away and don't know how to get accommodation etc.You need to shut the water off from the inside.

We have to fix tons of these in the spring mostly because people leave their outside hoses connected and they freeze up. Look for a company that warranties its service for up to a year for major installations or repairs.

Here are more tips to save on every household bill. Same goes for checking your water pressure. We said fine, but she ended up not returning until four hours later. We tried holding her.

She just kept crying. There is no national standard for issuing licenses. Some plumbers are licensed by the state, others by the counties they work in. Check with your local city hall or chamber of commerce.

They should be able to direct you to the appropriate source for a list of licensed plumbers in your area. They come and go. Instead, look for a plumber who is well-established in your community. Check the Better Business Bureau and read customer reviews at sites such as HomeAdvisor, Angie's List, or Citysearch. Local contractors or plumbing fixture stores can also refer you to a quality plumber, according to Grady Daniel, who owns a plumbing company in Austin, Texas.

A trusted plumber that consistently delivers quality service does not remain a secret for very long. Estimates for an average-sized job should be within a few hundred dollars. Be suspicious of anything that is substantially lower or double the price of the rest, and watch out for hidden fees, like charges for travel expenses.

They could be signs of a home improvement scam. A good plumber will not nickel and dime you like this, and many of us will offer free estimates. Get a clueand an electrician. When we run out of jars, we store leftovers in bowls with saucers on top instead of plastic wrap.

Bowls with saucers are great for stacking. We also use Anchor glass refrigerator containers to store daily portions of our homemade cat food. More on that below. The key to freezing foods in glass is not to fill the jar too full, since the food will expand inside the container. The other caveat is not to heat the glass too quickly. Let foods thaw at room temperature to avoid glass breakage. Another option for the refrigerator or freezer are the flat-topped airtight stainless steel containers from Life Without Plastic.

Their flat top makes them easy to stack and the fact that they are airtight means food can be stored longer. Read about my favorite container here. You can also learn to can foods in glass jars or dehydrate produce to keep through the winter. I did question whether it was better to donate these unhealthy items or to trash them. Turns out, our Oaklandwater is fine without a filter. So we can avoid plastic water filter cartridges from now on. For those who do need to filter their water, Brita has teamed up with Preserve to create a way to recycle the plastic cartridges.

All prepared soy milk cartons contain plastic. I squeeze fresh lemon and lime juice and keep it in glass jars in the refrigerator. And we make our own hummus, either from dried chick peas or from the dry mix in the bulk bin at Whole Foods. I have no problem acquiring second-hand plastic.

I also look for items made from recycled plastic, for the same reason. This solves several plastic problems. Lately, though, I have not had the time or energy to maintain my compost bin. But here in Oakland(as well as Berkeley and San Francisco) we have city-wide composting.

We can put all of our food scraps (including meat) and food-soiled paper, along with yard waste, into our green bins. Read more about collecting garbage without plastic trash bags.
